The Daily Grind
Dates and time have very little meaning out here. Every day I check my watch to see what date it is then count on my fingers what day of the race that we are on but in reality to us, living in this moment time is marked more by geographical or weather cues than by the passage of hours, minutes or days.
Hot hot hot
I am sitting down below at the computer and it is not a pleasant experience. As we near the equator and the temperature keeps on rising conditions below decks in my airless carbon sweat box are only just bearable.
I get knocked down but I get up again!
What can I say? We havehave had an absolutely amazing run, it has been incredible as well as exhausting but I can’t stop smiling. There has been some big breeze in the past 24 hours and we have been changing our sails regularly to get the best possible out of Superbigou.
Singing and Stars
Last night was a singing night – and that is when you know life is getting to be amazing.
It’s my guilty pleasure… singing when I am deck alone at night. And the thing is I couldn’t hold a note to save my life.
Idle hands make leaks work – leaks, lunch and landmark moments
Springing a leak on board is never a good thing, especially when it’s boredom induced and self-inflicted. With the routine settling in and a bit more time on our hands we decided to fill up the bow ballast tank which promptly sprang a leak.
Now that the dust has settled
Now that the dust has settled, we have found our rhythm and are finally heading south, I have the opportunity to share a few of my objectives for this race and the reality of what sort of an outcome I could hope for racing in this incredible, high-performance fleet.
